Blowing raspberries and eating lunch on the floor.

So to my sweet Andrew his first winter break was awesome. He got to do all the fun things that make this time of year so great. His two favorites though were eating a picnic lunch on the floor and blowing raspberries on my back fat. Thanks kid :)

My cousin and his girlfriend
 took Andrew to
Global Winter Wonderland.
Let me tell you that the picnic lunch was not all cute and well planned. It was out of necessity. I could no longer see the top of my kitchen table. Everyday it looked like someone tossed every snack food and sticky fruit all over it then stood on top of the table and smashed them all. Well, in reality they did. The baby has probably dumped over his plate AGAIN and the dog climbed on the table AGAIN. So we ate our lunch on the floor and called it a picnic.

The raspberry blowing was funny for everyone. I was sitting down trying to watch something and all of the sudden Andrew came up behind me and started to blow a huge raspberry on my love handles.. The baby began to laugh hysterically and so that was how the next ten minutes went. I laughed till my stomach hurt at the baby who had fallen over in the chair giggling. Andrew ended up laughing and was not able to continue the fart noises, but the laughter did not stop. It was one of those rare moments when I can feel nothing else, but the joy in the room.

Love!
Winter break was long and with the cold we got a bonus day off. I for one was glad for that! I was not ready to get back into the grind. I kind of miss having Andrew around and Gabe has really started to play with him. I am glad for him to have a few other faces to talk to though. I get on his nerves. I sing loud and I make him rest in his room for an hour while General Hospital is on. I will miss waking up at 7:30 to a huge snuggle; we will be back to the 5:30 groans and grunts. I am finally able to clean up and write again.

I can not say no to this face.
As I write this I am working on a few posts that are a little bit heavier. Many things have been on my mind lately. I have not forgotten about the money posts. Believe me! I am working on those. I am also hoping to bring a mess of cooking stuff at you. My husband has been doing some DIY work around the house that I hope to show you as well. I have so many wonderful things that I want to share everyday, but then my sweet baby asks to be up-up and nothing else matters.

So it is Fun Friday today and in our house that means breakfast for dinner and movie night. I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend and thank you again for reading!

How to parent like a boss?

Welcome to my first how to raise your kids post!

I have plenty of ideas on how to raise your kids. You can be strict with them so that they snap to attention at the ready. You can let them run free so that their spirits are nurtured. You could even do both and leave your kids wondering what is going on with their insane parents!
Awww! Brother love... for now.

I read tons of articles about parenting. It is my continuing education for my job.

The best thing I ever read though was from a book that my great-grandmother used. It talked about Sunday. Sunday was to be the day that the children spend with their fathers while the mother cooked in the kitchen. Ha! It was the day that the children have their father all to themselves. My favorite part of this section discussed the desire for the mother to interfere. It warns that doing so would undermine your husbands ability to form lasting relationships with his children. It may sound old fashioned, but I felt it was a very current statement.

Dad does it different. Thank God for that, right? Could you imagine if their were two of you? The kids would always win. They know how to get under your skin. Take your Sunday's (or whatever day you can) for you. It might make Monday a little easier.
